Spring into Style (Part II)

The odd day of sunshine is gracing us with her presence and the temperature is definitely rising, so here, in the hope that Spring will bloom soon, is my second installment of Spring Style Trends.

Peek a boo

Transparent skirts are all the rage, showcasing big knickers all over the High Street. My tip: subtle sheer is the key here. Grab some interesting prints that give you coverage in all the right places for a sheer but chic take on this trend.

Heavy Metal

I seem to say this every time new trends come about but metallics are IN. This season it is shimmery dresses and sparkles with shorts, or liquid metal effect skirts that flow over your curves. Mix them up for a more edgy look, leather jackets of sequins with denim are brilliant options. My fave way to make metallics your own is in accessories- I LOVE these silver cowboy boots.. Beyonce has a LOT to answer for!

Modern Flapper

Fringing isn’t just for festivals this year. They are everywhere, from tassels on jackets, to long lampshade-esque fringing on frocks, think flapper with a funky twist. Love this cream crochet cami- a great example of how something so simple can be given a twist with texture.

Craft

You heard it right, grab your craft box and get gluing. If it looks home made it’s in… and I’m not joking! From pom poms to sequins, knitted patches to crochet waistbands, its all about the details. This pink and red crochet dress with ALL the frills is a prime example- so much FUN!

90s Redux

Hooooraaaayyy! Kind of… we all wore it first time round, and yes girls you can wear it again… especially if your daughters are wearing it too, even if it is just for MAXIMUM annoyance factor. Think slip dresses, chokers, bell flare jeans, clogs and slogan t shirts. We are S Club 7 and Steps rolled into one and why the heck not…

So, there you go, have a play, find your way, and if you need a little help discovering your style joy then check out my online Style Sanctuary. It’s a stylist in your pocket- with handy courses aimed to re-discovering your own unique style and learning to love your true colours.
