Review: Taste of Summer at Tattu

Tattu Manchester is a favourite, but, when I worked it out, it had been far too long between visits. So, i was delighted to be invited to an exclusive networking lunch to sample the new summer Taste of Tattu...

Still looking gorgeous, Tattu Manchester first opened in 2015, and I am struck that it has not aged one iota. The cherry blossom tree remains the eternal centre of attention in the restaurant and the interior design still inspires me as I glance around.

Today, I was invited to an exclusive networking event from ByParallel, a group of like-minded ladies sampling the delights of the new Taste of Tattu menu, which offers a choice of select dishes.

Loving the dish names, we clearly were all attracted to the Wok Fried Angry Bird (need you know more about us?) but first for starters. One of each, thank you very much. I forgot that not only do the dishes taste divine, they are presented like mini-works of art; the Royal Koi Fish Gau, looking like mini koi. Too many superlatives could be included here, as the aroma of truffles filled the table from the Wild Mushroom Spring Rolls and the perfect Pan Seared Pork Dumplings.

And so to three Wok Fried Angry Birds and two Caramel Soy Aged Steaks (£5 upgrade to the menu, and so bloomin’ worth it), accompanied by Jasmine Steamed Rice, and with extras Tenderstem Broccoli with sesame and truffle and Singapore Shitake Noodles. Well, it silenced the chatting and lead to many ‘mmmm’ and ‘oh god, you must try this’. Do I need to say more? Dish of dishes, though, had to be the melt in the mouth aged steak, served on asparagus and with the most perfect sauce. My mouth is watering just typing these words.

Having done our very best to clear the table, and as is encouraged at Tattu, dessert was a sharing affair so we ordered two of the five on offer, with five spoons please. One Yuzu Lemon Drop which was deliciously light and refreshing and one Asian Pear Sticky Toffee Pudding, super soft and sweetly sumptuous.

Oh, I have completely forgotten to mention the drinks. As it was a Tuesday lunchtime, we were very well behaved, and treated ourselves to a Skull Candy cocktail, minus the vodka. It’s Tattu’s best selling cocktail and you can see why.

How can I conclude without sounding like a complete sychophant? I’ll give it a go. I love Tattu for the style, in interior design but also what it brings to the Manchester scene. It does what it does so well, from impeccable friendly service to delicious food and I am so pleased that I was able to remind myself of all that it has to offer, all alongside some great company. Thank you ByParallel and thank you Tattu Manchester.
