A simple fruit snack that’s quietly made its way into our bags, lunchboxes… and surprisingly, quite a few recipes too.
There’s always a moment when you try something expecting it to be fine… and it ends up being much better than that. That was very much the case when we were sent some goodies from New Forest Fruit Snacks.
At first glance, they’re exactly what they say they are, dried strawberries and raspberries. Simple. Healthy. The kind of thing you throw into a bag and forget about until mid-afternoon.
But actually, they’ve turned out to be one of those small finds that quietly works its way into everyday life in more ways than you expect.

The Snack That Actually Feels Like a Treat
The first thing to say is that they don’t taste like a compromise.
There’s a proper crunch to them (not chewy, not overly dry), and the flavour is surprisingly intense, atcually like concentrated strawberries and raspberries rather than something processed or overly sweet.
They’re made using a process called pulse drying, which keeps the fruit’s natural flavour, colour and nutrients intact, just without the water. Which explains why they still taste like actual fruit. And importantly, no added sugar, no extras, just fruit.
Which makes them one of those rare snacks you don’t feel the need to justify.
More Than Just “Something to Snack On”
What’s been more interesting is how often we’ve reached for them beyond just snacking.
Sprinkled over morning yoghurt — they add that bit of crunch and a hit of flavour without needing anything else.
On porridge — a slightly more exciting alternative to the usual berries.
In baking — they work surprisingly well in cookies or cakes, adding little bursts of fruit without making everything soggy.
But one of the nicest (and easiest) ways we’ve used them?

A Slightly Unexpected One: Dropped into your favourite fizz
Drop a handful into a glass and leave it for a few minutes. Watch as they rehydrate and (more importantly) soak up whatever drink you choose.
And another one, pop into a blender to create a super powder to sprinkle onto your cereal, desserts or on top of cupcakes.
The Bit We Actually Like Most
Beyond how they taste, there’s something quite reassuring about where they come from.
The fruit is grown and produced in the New Forest, and the snacks are made using strawberries and raspberries that might otherwise go to waste, the slightly wonky ones that don’t make it to supermarket shelves. It’s a simple idea, but one that makes sense. Less waste, more use.
A Useful Little Staple
They’ve become one of those things we keep reaching for without really thinking about it. In a handbag. In a lunchbox or car glove compartment for emergency school snacks. Next to the kettle when you want something but don’t quite know what.
And sometimes, those are the best finds.
