If you’ve ever spent the night tossing and turning, you’re not alone. A good night’s sleep is essential for feeling your best, yet so many of us struggle to drift off. To help, Emma Bullock-Lynch, Nutritionist at Wassen, is sharing her top five tips for better sleep—naturally!
1. Eat More Sleep-Supporting Foods
Ever heard that turkey makes you sleepy? That’s thanks to tryptophan, an amino acid that helps your body produce serotonin and melatonin—two key sleep hormones. To promote better sleep, include tryptophan-rich foods like:
✅ Turkey & chicken
✅ Milk & dairy products
✅ Nuts & seeds
2. Time Your Evening Meal Wisely
Late-night snacking could be keeping you up! Eating too close to bedtime can raise your body temperature and disrupt sleep. Try to have dinner at least 2–3 hours before bed so your body can focus on resting instead of digesting.
3. Cut Back on Caffeine
Love your afternoon coffee? It might be keeping you awake later than you’d like. Caffeine can stay in your system for up to six hours, so aim to avoid it after mid-afternoon to ensure a smoother transition to sleep.
4. Get Moving (But at the Right Time!) 🏃
Regular exercise—whether it’s walking, swimming, or yoga—can improve sleep quality. Just be mindful of timing! High-intensity workouts too close to bedtime may be too stimulating, but gentle stretches, yoga, or meditation in the evening can help you unwind.
5. Try a Natural Sleep Supplement
If you need extra support, Wassen Relax + Replenish is a natural way to help you relax before bed. This supplement contains Ashwagandha, known for its calming properties, as well as Passion Flower, Reishi Mushroom and Lavender, helping you feel at ease as you wind down for the night.
