The Waitrose Find That Made Us Rethink the Weekly Shop

There’s something quite dangerous about popping into Waitrose “for one thing”.

You tell yourself it will be quick. Milk, perhaps some salad, maybe a loaf of bread. And then, before you know it, you’re wandering slowly down the beauty aisle and discovering things you definitely didn’t know you needed five minutes earlier.

That’s exactly how we stumbled across the new SenSpa range. Eye-catching, calm, spa-like packaging and a promise of turning a regular bath into something closer to a proper spa moment. After a closer look, the range is designed to bring a bit of the spa experience home, with products centred around relaxation, calming scents and skin-soothing ingredients.

The Relax & Calm range blends magnesium with lavender and bergamot, a combination that feels very much like the sort of thing you want at the end of a long day. The bath soak promises to ease muscle tension and help encourage sleep, while the body wash carries the same relaxing scent profile to start or end the day on a calmer note.

There’s also a Detox & Purify collection, which leans into more invigorating aromas like eucalyptus and rosemary. Think restorative rather than sleepy, the sort of soak that feels ideal after a long walk or a particularly enthusiastic gym session.

What we liked most is that the range feels accessible rather than overly indulgent. Prices sit comfortably in the “treat yourself” (or somebody else) category, with bath soaks around £7.50 and salts at around £10, making them an easy addition to a weekly shop rather than a once-a-year splurge.

Of course, this is also exactly the sort of situation where online grocery shopping suddenly makes sense. When you’re browsing from the sofa rather than wandering past shelves, you’re slightly less likely to discover a whole new beauty routine halfway through buying broccoli.

That said, if the end result is a better bath and a slightly calmer evening, perhaps the Waitrose aisle wander wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

SenSpa is available at Waitrose, amazon and senspa.co.uk

UPDATE: SenSpa Has Entered Summer Hair Season Too

Just when we thought we’d finished wandering down the SenSpa aisle in Waitrose… they’ve now launched a summer-focused haircare range too.

The new Gloss & Nourish collection is designed to tackle the slightly dull, dry hair situation that inevitably arrives once sunshine, heat styling and holiday season kick in.

The range includes a shampoo, conditioner and a Lift, Thicken & Shine Spray — all centred around hydration, softness and adding a bit of gloss back into tired hair. Ingredients include jojoba oil, coconut oil, shea butter and argan oil, alongside a spa-like blend of geranium, cedarwood and ylang ylang.

The shine spray particularly caught our attention for summer — the sort of thing that feels useful when your hair needs a bit of help between washes or after too much sun.

Like the rest of the range, it’s available in Waitrose (which is becoming increasingly dangerous for anyone attempting to “just buy milk”).
