How to… Tabata

We can all make up excuses not to exercise, time being the main culprit. But would you do 8 exercises for 20 seconds?

Enter Tabata. Called Tabata after Dr. Tabata developed the exercise session in 1996, it is an answer to the excuses that we tell ourselves. I don’t have time. I can’t afford gym membership or a PT. I don’t have any fitness equipment. The list goes on.

Tabata is a super effective high-intensity exercise session that will increase your heart rate and speeds metabolism immediately. You can mix it into your weekly workouts or do a quick session every day. Here’s how.

8 consecutive exercises for 20 seconds

+

10 seconds rest

Here are 5 exercises to try, totalling a 20-minute workout.

Please take the time to ensure that you know how to do the exercises properly before staring. Form is more important that anything!
