When we think of summer prep, it’s usually swimsuits, sandals and the all-important holiday packing list. But what about your skin? Glowing, hydrated, happy skin is one of the best ways to feel fabulous when the sun comes out.
Luckily, Emma Bullock-Lynch, nutritionist at Efamol®, has shared her top five (easy and effective!) tips to help you get that radiant, summer-ready glow from the inside out.
1. SPF is non-negotiable
Yes, we know you’ve heard it before but wearing SPF really is the golden rule. Emma recommends a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Don’t forget to reapply regularly, even on cloudy days, and accessorise with wide-brimmed hats, oversized sunnies, and some stylish shade.

2. Hydration, hydration, hydration
Think of water as your skin’s best friend. Aim for 6–8 cups a day (around 1.5–2 litres), and don’t forget you can top this up with hydrating fruits and veg like cucumber and watermelon. Bonus points for cutting back on caffeine, which can dehydrate your skin.
3. Eat the rainbow
We’re not just talking about colourful plates for Instagram. A vibrant, plant-based diet packed with antioxidants helps protect your skin from environmental stress and supports a healthy glow. Emma’s favourites? Cooked tomatoes (lycopene), green tea (polyphenols), and dark chocolate (flavonols) yes, really.
4. Prioritise sleep
Beauty sleep is real. Poor sleep can affect your skin’s ability to repair and produce collagen, making you look (and feel) a little less radiant. Try winding down with a tech-free bedtime routine. Think lavender-scented baths, herbal teas and a regular lights-out time.

5. Supplement smartly
Efamol®’s newly improved High Strength Evening Primrose Oil includes natural Vitamin E to help protect your cells from oxidative stress. Backed by over 40 years of research, this supplement is known for supporting smooth, nourished-looking skin. In their recent study, 87% of women said their skin felt less dry, while 76% felt their skin looked more beautiful. Yes, please. And if you’re in any doubt, we have checked it out ourselves so head over to our review.
Available in both 500mg (£13.49) and 1000mg (£10.49), you can find it at efamol.com, Amazon, Boots, health food stores and independent pharmacies.
In true G&J style, glowing skin isn’t about perfection. It’s about care, consistency, and feeling good in your own skin. So go ahead, soak up the summer (safely!) and let your skin shine.
