Elnor Lane Farm Bakery, Rushton Spencer
On the Cheshire–Staffordshire border, Elnor Lane Farm has built a reputation for outstanding sourdough bread, viennoiserie, and seasonal bakes. Co-owners Liz and her team are passionate about sourcing from small, independent, and increasingly organic producers.
“Using organic ingredients is seen as a key indicator of both quality and a responsibility to the environment,” says Liz. “It builds trust with our customers, especially at local markets like Rode Hall, where people love to meet the producers directly.”

Food Life Organic, Cheshire-wide Delivery

Born in a garage during the Covid-19 pandemic, ROOTSTOCK has grown into a much-loved organic grocery and “good living” retailer with shops in Alderley Edge and Bollington. Stocking produce from local organic growers and co-operatives, they’ve created calm, welcoming spaces that foster connection to food and community.
“It’s important to us that organic isn’t just a buzzword, but a standard for everything we do,” says co-founder Sophie Hocking. “We apply it holistically connecting personal health, sustainability, and community.”

Where the Light Gets In, Stockport
For something truly special, head to Stockport Old Town. Since 2016, Sam Buckley’s Where the Light Gets In has been pushing boundaries with a menu built entirely around seasonal, organic produce. With a Michelin Green Star for sustainability, the restaurant grows much of its own fruit and veg at “The Landing” , an urban rooftop farm above the Merseyway precinct.
“Organic principles are at the centre of everything we do,” says Sam. “It’s about respecting the land and the people who care for it, ensuring soil, ecosystems, and communities can thrive for generations to come.”
