5 Feel Good Foods

Yes, dark chocolate is one of the top five...

So many of my clients come to looking to restart a healthy lifestyle, that includes fitness and food. Exercise is just as important as what you put into your body, so here are my top feel good foods:

#1 EGGS are a fantastic source of amino acids, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc and magnesium that help with anxiety. I love salmon omelette for lunch!

#2 GINGER helps sharpen the brain and reduce anxiety.  It also can affect serotonin levels. I love a ginger and lemon hot water every morning to help set up me up for the day.

#3 BLUEBERRIES have a high content of antioxidants known as flavonoids, which help reduce stress. A handful a day added to a smoothie tastes delicious.

#4 QUINOA is a wonderful complex carbohydrate and a complete protein that helps keep your blood sugar and your energy levels regular. This can help blood sugar spikes which can make you irritable. I cook it with some stock and vegetables and keep it in the fridge for lunches.

#5 DARK CHOCOLATE stimulates the production of endorphins, chemicals in the brain that create feelings of happiness. A small piece after lunch or for a snack is a nice treat.
