The days are slowly getting longer and the daffodils are starting to bloom. It can mean only one thing… Spring is here, and with it comes new trends and fresh collections from all our fave retailers.
It’s a fab time to delve into the back of your wardrobe and see what you can re-instate as the weather brightens up. Here is the first half of what to watch out for in my Super Spring Trend breakdown.
Short Shorts:
How do we feel about this then? Is it a Heeeelllppp or a Yessss? I’m on the fence but there is no denying that shorts are big news this spring – even as workwear. Think pleats, high waists and turn-ups, and not just with trainers either, shorts and heels are hot for the evening too!
Check out these perfect papaya pair from Reiss, twinned with a tailored waistcoat or equally lovely with a crisp white shirt.
It’s all white!
And talking of white… it’s a trend in itself! Not for the fainthearted, or those with kids under 15, I’d say, white is the highest vibrating shade out there, closely linked to spirituality and cleansing energies.
My top tip is wear it where you want to be seen as it advances towards the eye and can make areas appear larger than they actually are. Try this off white denim jumpsuit from M&S, the slightly warmer undertone will make it softer on the complexion and a little easier to wear.
Let’s get high:
Thank the lord! High -rise trousers are back again! No low-slung hipster this spring/ summer, it’s Simon Cowell all the way with waist-cinching details a go-go.
Rouching, pleats and belts are all big news and my top tip for wearing a high waist trouser? A good bra! Seriously, if you are high on the waist make sure your boobs aren’t encroaching into that territory. Get ‘em fitted girls- guess work really doesn’t work. Try these wide leg one stripe pair from River Island, great for the office or dressed down with trainers and a t-shirt.
Anyone for Polo?
Ralph Lauren has some admirers this Spring as the Polo look is bang on trend. Think collared soft shirts and jumpers over shoulders, its perfectly preppy. Go more rugby if you prefer a looser look, this red number from Next gives full on weekend vibes.
So there you go girls, enjoy all the new colours in the stores and embrace some fresh looks.
