A gorgeous retreat on the shores of Coniston, what more could you ask for?

Those who know me know that I am a keen yogi, so I couldn’t resist treating myself to this three night retreat in stunning Coniston especially as it featured G&J’s resident yoga teacher, Jennie.

On arrival at 5ish on Friday night I was greeted with  a delicious healthy dark chocolate treat and herbal tea followed by 2 hours of super-chilled out yoga which set the vibe for the weekend. A delicious vegan curry followed after followed by tasty orange polenta cake topped off with lovely chats with the other girls on the weekend.

Saturday started with an energising yoga flow. 2 hours,  but it flew by and brunch was then was served, delicious oat and apple pots topped off with more dark chocolate.

Everyone then did their own thing.. for some a group walk with a picnic lunch. For me however, it was reading the papers in bed with a coffee followed by (when I could tear myself away from the view from my room) a long run along Coniston with no timings to worry about!

Saturday night gongs!! We had a couple of hours of breathing and listening to gongs which are said to really help energy flow round the body and release old emotions and tension. It is really worth reading up on and definitely one to experience. This was followed by more delicious food, chats and a glass of red wine too… good for the soul!!! Well I think so anyway)

Sunday morning soon arrived after a lovely snooze with more uplifthing yoga and a choice of activities, a lesiurely boat trip on the lake or a heading up The Old Man of Coniston.

I had to head back Sunday night but the others enjoyed more yoga that evening and the Monday morning too.

Even though I couldn’t do it all it was such a treat and I felt fully energised, grounded, full of fresh air and friendships. I would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone who is looking to reconnect to all that you love. Plus, Jennie is a brilliant teacher, who manages to tailor the class to suit everyone at all levels. You will return back to normal life a bit clearer, focused and… well just a bit more chilled and happy.

Check out Jennie’s website for news of future retreats in 2024.
