How would you describe yourself (and what you do):
I am hormone health specialist who has been helping women for over 10 years feel better naturally. Empathetic and results focused, I am passionate about providing women an individual health plan to support peri-menopausal and menopausal symptoms primarily through herbs or acupuncture. Educating women why they are feeling how they are feeling from a Western and Chinese Medicine perspective.
Who is your hero?
Every woman who contacts me for help. I am astounded by their strength to keep going when they are often experiencing horrific negative life impacting symptoms.
What is the favourite thing about your life/career?
It’s very cheesy but it’s changing women’s lives. Often by the time patients get to me they are frustrated and have tried lots of other routes. My heart sings when patients say how much better they feel and the positive impact working together has had on them. No greater feeling of job satisfaction for me.
What makes you laugh the most?
Predictive text fails especially when the sender doesn’t realise. A particularly amusing one comes to mind involving meeting at a big clock !
If you could choose to do/be anything for a day, what would it be?
I really love my job so not keen to change but if pushed probably a paramedic.
If you were Queen of your own country, what would be the first law you would introduce?
It would be to make complementary healthcare available for free to anyone who would like it. Offer it up as a viable alternative or alongside medication whether it is herbs, acupuncture, reflexology, talking therapies, homeopathy, personal training and nutrition. A personal health strategy for everyone which looks at the whole patient treating the root of the problem not just the symptoms.
What is your pet peeve?
The “one size fits all” approach women experience when it comes to their health. We are all amazing individuals and yet we sometimes aren’t treated as such in the health system. In my experience no two women are the same and will present very differently in terms of symptoms and experiences. More often than not the treatment plan is always the same.
Do you have a family motto or life lesson you would like to share with us?
“Feel the fear and do it any way” passed on from my Mum. I often hear it in my head when I am hesitant about doing something.
Last book you read?
How to kill your family by Bella Mackie, very dark and funny. The book choice has no reflection on the current mood in the Eaton household.
Last song you sang to?
The Final Countdown by Europe at the end of my 50th Birthday party whilst wearing scrubs and doing air guitar.
