Alison Hibbert shares her favourite places to go in her home city of Manchester
My fave place to go for a Sunday Roast in Manchester is Masons. It is a hidden gem serving yummy food situated inside the gorgeous building that is Manchester Hall.
The absolute best thing to do with the girls is going for a spa day. For me, it has to be the Rena Spa situated inside the Midland, simply divine for a day of pampering, catching up, and chilling.
For culture I always head to John Rylands Library, I love books and I adore this building, so many nooks and crannies to explore.
I really got into walking through lockdown which was great for losing weight but also for clearing my head. I found some lovely local walks, especially in Didsbury, the beauty of walking is always that cute café halfway round or as a treat at the end.
I have been going to the Burton Road Bakery for years and I still love the friendliness of it now. The homemade food and the diversity of the customers, oh, and the best sausages and coffee!!!!
I cannot go without mentioning shopping which I love. One of my go-to places for something different is the boutique Suka in Hale. Run by the lovely Sue it is a treasure chest and you always find something you need or don’t!!
Where to stay
One of my favourite places to stay in the city is the Marriott Victoria and Albert Hotel, situated just off Spinningfields and with a gorgeous airy lobby, bar, restaurant, and terrace. This hotel has so much charm from bare-bricked walls and oak panels, to the comfiest beds. It is perfect for a visit with the family or friends as they have lots of double-double rooms.
If you are looking to spoil yourselves and your other half and want luxury, decadence and full-on glamour then look no further than Hotel Gotham, at the top of King Street. This hotel oozes Art Deco glamour and with a gorgeous bar and restaurant you may never want to leave!
P.S.
One of my fave pit stops for a drink is the stunning Schofield’s Bar which is a fabulous cocktail bar down the side of the Opera House. Old school cocktails served with flair and flourish, this is the perfect place to start your evening in Manchester.
