Here's how my visit with the new Private GP Skin guru, Dr. Anjana went at Brow HQ in Chester.
Upon entering Brow HQ after dashing into Chester with a million things on my to-do list, I was greeted by a warm smile, a cup of herbal tea and a warm face cloth to clean my hands, instantly calming. Then I went through into a lovely relaxing, consultation room. Dr Anjana, had a lovely manner and exuded an air of professionalism and passion without being preechy. Her extensive expertise in dermatology immediately put me at ease, as she embarked on unravelling the mysteries of my skin!
The consultation commenced with a comprehensive analysis of my skin type, delving deep into its nuances and peculiarities. Through the process Dr Anjana discussed my skin’s unique needs and vulnerabilities that I should be aware of from the impact of environmental factors to identifying potential triggers for breakouts, every aspect of my skin’s health was meticulously scrutinised.
What truly set this consultation apart was Dr Anjana emphasis on simplicity so after I knew which products I should and shouldn’t use and pleasingly the list isn’t too long! In a world inundated with complex skincare routines and miracle products, she advocated for a back-to-basics approach grounded in efficacy and practicality and made it all feel refreshingly manageable.
As the consultation unfolded, Dr Anjana shared lots of top top tips tailored to my skin’s specific needs. From the importance of daily sunscreen application to the transformative power of hydration (my skin was a bit dehydrated), each recommendation was backed by scientific evidence- she felt chemical skin peels would be good for me and even gave me a mini one whilst I was there which took about 15 mins and was lovely . She also emphasised the significance of consistency and patience.
There were other factors to consider too which we all perhaps know but forget – drinking lots of water, getting lots of exercise to oxygenate the skin and the interconnectedness of mind, body, and skin, stressing the profound impact of stress reduction techniques and adequate sleep (need to work harder!!) on overall skin health.
I departed from the sanctuary of the clinic (1 hour later), I left armed not only with new found knowledge but also feeling fresh and glowing from the small chemical peel she had given me and also while I lay there having a hand massage she put a light therapy box which went round my head – the LED (light-emitting diode) light therapy treats various skin conditions and concerns, such as acne, fine lines and psoriasis. It comes in different types, including red light LED therapy (for fine wrinkles, scars) and blue light LED therapy (acne), which are sometimes used in combination. This was the red one and felt lovely and calming and hopefully treated some fine lines too!!
I would definitely recommend a visit if you are unsure of your skincare routine and what to use- Not only has it helped me work out what products are essential to help keep my skin healthy and (as young looking as possible) but it also imparted some invaluable lessons in self-care and simplicity for example I wash my face with cold water in the morning as it is quick (and cheap) but this is great and nothing else needed as long as I follow it with a vitamin C based serum and moisturiser and SPF.
I would recommend a visit! It is on offer to book at the moment and is £50 and called ‘Skin Analysis with mini skin treatment’ on the Brow HQ website.
