Q&A with Jade Scammells, lover of travel and creating memories

How would you describe yourself?

I am a travel-loving, introverted mum of one, who is passionate about helping people remember their adventures and inspiring others to see the world. I founded my travel keepsake business, Journeys Made, shortly after closing my travel agency due to the pandemic. Essentially, I went from booking holidays to helping people remember them, and it is so much more rewarding.

What is your favourite thing about your life/career?

I love that over the past decade I have connected people to travel in one way or another, and now since having my daughter I get to show her the world too.

Where are your favourite places/countries to travel?

Costa Rica is my number 1 favourite country. I love the laid-back vibe, its diverse wildlife, plus I’m obsessed with volcanoes so to visit Arenal was incredible. A close second would be Mexico as it is where I went on my honeymoon so will always have a special place in my heart.

What makes you laugh the most?

My daughter, she’s 2 years old and is finding her personality, she’s incredibly funny with the things she says and does.

If you could choose to do/be anything for a day, what would it be?

An astronaut, I would love to go to space to see what’s out there.

If you were Queen of your own country, what would be the first law you would introduce?

To be kind and help others.

What is your pet peeve?

When holidaymakers reserve sunbeds ridiculously early in the morning.
