Christmas is approaching and whilst it’s a time for giving, surely giving your Christmas list to your loved ones is the art of giving too? I know in my house, it’s appreciated.
So below are 5 things I’ve got on my wish list radar:
Yogawear
Let’s face it, who doesn’t love beautiful gear to practice in? Yes, most of the time I end up practicing in what I roll out of bed in, but a treat-pair of leggings from a lovely brand at Christmas just feels super special.
For me any brand that passes the downward dog test (i.e. when you can’t see your undies when the fabric is stretched) is pretty key. Sweaty Betty leggings are good for that; they’re strong and sturdy and double up well for cross training. Lululemon are lovely too… perhaps, more streamlined in their function; their yogawear is perhaps a bit better for yes, just yogawear, but do they pass the downward dog test? Yes. Aloyoga are gorgeous – super cool, super lovely, a bit more pricey, but that’s why they’ve made it onto the gift list as they’re a bit more special.
2. Inspirational reads
Being a yoga geek I love to delve into any spiritual reads. Leave me in the spiritual section of Waterstones and I’m a goner. So much goes down in my day to day life as a mum of three that any little gems of “reframe” serve me well, so a good Buddhism book like Buddhism for Parents on the Go by Sarah Naphthali will be a lovely wish this Christmas or even better, her audiobook. If you’re new to yoga The Yogi Assignment by Kino Macgregor will leave you wanting to practice. Coupled with your new yoga wear and you’re off! Basically anything to read to feed my mind and fill my soul and I’m happy.
3. Stocking filler wellness supplements
In the last year I’ve been using the products from Willpowder by Davinia Taylor. Her straight-forward Northern explanation of her range cuts through the mind-blowing jargon associated with wellness products. Here I have used their MCT Powder (fantastic), Collagen (great) and L-theanine. She has a great book It’s not a diet that I recommend reading first. It makes sense and I’ve felt better from applying alot of it. My benchmark of success has been that I’ve reached for the chocolate a hell of a lot less!
4. Smellies
I love essential oils and I love balancing my chakras. I thoroughly recommend the chakra balancing essential oil blends set from Aromafume. The smells are beautiful and I use them in the majority of my classes.
5. Subscription
It’s so lovely to receive a gift monthly and so a subscription to any magazine is a regular sparker of joy. I really love Om Yoga Magazine – they inspire practice, meditations and mindfulness and offer subscriptions online and in print. Call me old-fashioned, but a paper copy monthly magazines are such a treat and for that reason they find their way onto my wish list.
Wishing you a lovely Christmas – less doing and more being in the moment. That’s a hard one as a parent when we work so hard as elves, but we deserve our wishes too.
