A Gift That Grows: Why I’m Loving Tree2myDoor

I was recently gifted a Tree2myDoor plant and I hadn’t quite realised how much I would enjoy it.

It now sits proudly in front of our picture windows, catching the light throughout the day, and has quietly become part of our home. There’s something deeply satisfying about a living gift. Unlike a bouquet that fades (however beautiful it may be), this feels lasting. It changes subtly week by week. New leaves appear. Growth shifts towards the sun. It’s small, but grounding.

Tree2myDoor is a Manchester-based online gardening business, working with British nurseries to create meaningful plant and tree gifts that can be delivered nationwide. I love that it’s northern-founded and proudly rooted here, it makes the whole experience feel more personal somehow. Each plant arrives beautifully wrapped in rustic hessian, with thoughtful care instructions and the option to include a personalised message.

What I’ve particularly appreciated are the monthly emails. Gentle, seasonal reminders with practical advice; when to water a little more, when to feed, what to expect next. They’re not overwhelming or overly technical, just reassuring. Even if you’re not especially green-fingered (and I wouldn’t necessarily describe myself as an expert), it feels manageable.

For food and home lovers, a gift like this makes so much sense. It’s decorative, yes, but it also promises something edible. Tree2myDoor’s fruiting plants go beyond aesthetics they bring flavour into the picture too.

The Pink Blueberry Plant, for example, produces blush-pink berries later in the summer. I’m already imagining them folded into muffins, scattered over yoghurt, or simply eaten warm from the plant. The White Grape Vine brings an almost European elegance when trained along a trellis or pergola, eventually producing bunches of sweet green grapes by autumn. And the Olive Bush? Instant Mediterranean calm. Perfect for patios, conservatories or a sunny corner indoors.

But it’s the Lemon Tree that really wins for me. Glossy evergreen leaves, that unmistakable citrus scent, and the promise of fresh lemons for dressings, cakes or marinades. There’s something quietly indulgent about plucking a lemon from your own tree. And, if I’m honest, I’m already looking forward to the first one making its way into a gin and tonic. I will absolutely be sharing photographic evidence when that happens.

In a world of next-day deliveries and short-lived gifts, there’s something refreshing about giving, or receiving, something that grows. It doesn’t shout. It doesn’t fade. It settles in and becomes part of daily life.

For anyone who loves their home, enjoys cooking, or simply appreciates something thoughtful and a little different, a living plant feels like a gift with real substance.

And one that occasionally ends up in your glass.
