Recipe: Make your own natural antibiotic

Following on from my post about gut-loving foods, here's another recipe to help you feel great

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons of garlic, finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons of fresh ginger, grated with skin on
  • 2 tbsp fresh horseradish grated with skin on
  • 700ml organic apple cider vinegar
  • 2 table turmeric powder or 2 pieces of turmeric root, grated with skin on
  • 4 tablespoons of onion, peeled and finely chopped
  • 700ml organic apple cider vinegar. I use Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar

Method:

  1. Finely chop or grate the garlic, ginger, horseradish, onion, and the whole turmeric, if using. A food processor or a mini chopper will make this easier. I use my trusted Ninja.
  2. Put all of the chopped ingredients, and the powdered turmeric if using, into a 2 litre Kilner jar.
  3. Next, pour the vinegar on top. There should be 2/3 dry ingredients and 1/3 vinegar.
  4. Close and shake well.
  5. Keep in a cool dry place for 2 weeks, shaking each day.
  6. After 2 weeks strain and pour the liquid into a glass bottle.

It does not need to be kept in the fridge just in a dry cool place.

Take 1-2 tablespoons per day to boost the immune system and prevent colds. Increase gradually to a small glass per day. Gargle and swallow, neat.

If feeling very unwell take 1 tablespoon 5-6 times a day.

Notes:

When first brewed the taste is very strong to start with so eating a slice of citrus fruit after can help with the burning sensation.

It can be used as a dressing if mixed with olive oil.
