We love books. They are a huge part of our daily lives. So, here's a rundown of mother and daughter favourites, aged 3 and that all-important half...

Here We Are, Notes for Living on Planet Earth, by Oliver Jeffers

Mother: Beautifully illustrated guide to the world, it's people and it's places.
Daughter: I love spotting all the different people, giants and cook-ers (chefs).

Oh, The Places You'll Go!, by Dr. Seuss

Mother: Grown-ups should read this more often; for un-slumping advice.
Daughter: The big pussycat and mummy getting the names wrong.

Get the Rat! and Lots of Nuts, by Alex Lane & Gill Munton

Mother: Great for practising phonics, with tips and post-reading ideas.
Daughter: Telling mummy to get the rat (reading my first words).

Room on the Broom, by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler

Mother: Love most of these books but this one was the first we read, so has a special place.
Daughter: Buzz off! That's my witch!

How do I see? A lift-the-flap book from Usborne

Mother: You're never too old to learn, plus the flaps make it super fun learning too.
Daughter: Skinny-legs spiders have 8 eyes, do you know?

Mother: Available in bound and board books, this collection tells the most inspiring real-life tales.
Daughter: Mummy's favourites, I like the Boom-da-da-boom singing lady best (Ella Fitzgerald).

Mother: Flowing, magical tale of dreams and imaginations.
Daughter: You have to find the unicorns!
