If you’ve ever found yourself saying “Chester just needs…” when it comes to restaurants, this might be the one.
The Ivy Collection is officially opening in the heart of Chester this spring, and it’s set to bring a touch of its signature polished-but-approachable dining to the city. Opening on 28th April 2026, The Ivy Chester Brasserie will take up residence on Newgate Street, perfectly placed for a post-shopping lunch, a long overdue catch-up, or one of those “shall we just stay for another?” dinners.
And yes, we’re already thinking about when to book.

A New Addition to Chester’s Dining Scene
Chester has never been short on charm, but its restaurant scene continues to evolve and this feels like a notable addition. The Ivy’s arrival (its 46th location) promises the kind of all-day dining that fits neatly into real life: breakfast meetings, leisurely lunches, celebratory dinners and cocktails that accidentally turn into a full evening.
The space itself sounds like it will tick all the right boxes. Expect room for 163 diners, plus a terrace that’s likely to become one of those go-to spots when the sun makes an appearance. Morning coffee, lunch in the fresh air, or an evening glass of something chilled, it’s designed for lingering.
What to Expect on the Menu
If you know The Ivy, you’ll know what’s coming and that’s no bad thing.
The menu will feature its much-loved classics alongside seasonal dishes and a well-considered drinks list. It’s the kind of place where everyone can find something they want, whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or settling in properly.
From breakfast through to late evening, it’s all about consistency, quality and that slightly elevated feel that still remains accessible.

Interiors with a Sense of Place
One of the things The Ivy tends to get right is atmosphere and Chester will be no exception.
The interiors are set to reflect the brand’s signature look: stylish, layered and full of detail, but with thoughtful nods to the city itself. Local artwork, warm textures and a sense of occasion without feeling overdone. It’s designed to feel special, but not intimidating which, frankly, is exactly what most of us want.
More Than Just a Restaurant
Beyond the food, the opening will also bring over 100 jobs to the area, adding to Chester’s already thriving hospitality scene.
As Kate Cooper, Restaurant Operating Officer for the North, puts it: “Chester already boasts a rich hospitality culture, and we’re proud to become part of that story.”
And it does feel like a natural fit.
One to Watch
We’ll reserve final judgement until we’ve sat down, ordered something we didn’t need, and stayed longer than planned but for now, it’s safe to say this is one opening we’re genuinely looking forward to.
